Dr. Diara Anderson is a licensed clinical psychologist who obtained her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Capella University, after earning both her graduate and undergraduate degrees in forensic psychology from Argosy University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, NY.
Dr. Anderson has over 15 years of therapy experience. Her focus is person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches, Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
Dr. Anderson started her career in an adult inpatient psychiatric unit, providing individual therapy. She also empowered patients while facilitating group therapy, which consisted of anger management, CBT, depression, anxiety, mental illness and substance abuse, and art therapy.
After working in the inpatient setting, Dr. Anderson explored ways to incorporate her love for children into her career. She had the opportunity to provide services to children in various settings including their homes, school, partial hospitalization programs, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, and in private practice.
Dr. Anderson provided services to children who exhibited an array of mental health diagnosis and issues such as, parental divorce, grief/loss, emotional disturbance, self-esteem, depression, PTSD, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, autism, and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder.
Dr. Anderson equally enjoys working with a diverse population of adults with an array of mental health concerns such as trauma, grief/loss, relational distress, depression, anxiety, bipolar, dissociative disorders, and personality disorders.
Dr. Anderson is used as a vessel for healing as she has helped many clients manage emotional disturbances and overcome years of trauma related to physical, sexual, emotional, and mental abuse, and other traumatic events by utilizing EMDR. Her purpose is to promote emotional well-being and wellness so that you can live an optimal life.
When Dr. Anderson is not working, she enjoys traveling and experiencing new adventures.
